Das Jahr des rechtwinkligen Dreiecks (The Year of the Right-Angled Triangle)
Mathematics teacher - what do you expect? They can't even leave mathematics out of music but - reconsidered - you can't do that anyway. There is so much Math in Music: frequencies, oscillation ratios, music theory and so on. Although I must admit, right-angled triangles don't exist in music but everywhere else. So let's celebrate this with a fusion piece.

Roberts Werk und Peters Beitrag (Robert's Work and Peter's Contribution)
The title was Peter's idea. It's a wordplay with the German title of John Irving's novel "The Cider House Rules" (God's Work and Devil's Contribution). The piece has nothing to do with the book. I think Peter just wanted to point out the fact that I wrote the piece and he arranged the drums which by the way applies to all the pieces he played on.

Balladesque
Sounds French like it should but actually it's a rock ballad. Two themes inflate over simple harmonies and in the end there's a big guitar solo. This is the way a rock ballad should be.

Vento e Fogo
A Latin piece based on the Cuban Nanigo rhythm: drums, percussion, bass and rhythm guitar play variations of the Nanigo added by a simple melody on the alto saxophone and two solos (guitar and rhodes). That's all!

A funky part A, followed by a Smooth-Jazz-Easy-Listening Part B, a guitar solo and then the parts A and B played vice versa.

Wellenreiter auf dem Fluss des Januars (Surfer on the River of January)
There it is again, my love for Brazilian music, this time in its original shape as a Bossa Nova. The title is a wordplay with "Bossa Nova" (New Wave) and "Rio de Janeiro" (River of January). The German word "Wellenreiter" means "Surfer" (Welle = wave, Reiter = rider).

These are the last four digits of my credit card number - no, of course not, just kidding. The title refers directly to the piece which is quite unusual for my titles. But I don't want to explain it which is quite unusual for a teacher ;-)

Back in Brazil - a Samba this time. "Ligação" means "connection". What is connected here, are two Samba styles: the Jazz Samba of the fifties and the Partido Alto.
Polarlichter über Linsengericht (Polar lights over Linsengericht)
Yes, they were real, you could see polar lights in Linsengericht - and yes, this village really exists. Linsengericht lies in Hesse between Frankfurt and Fulda. (I should explain this: As Linsengericht is a German village polar lights are very unusual here. Many Germans are irritated by the name of the village. Linsengericht means "Lentil dish". So when they hear it many people in Germany think that Linsengericht doesn't exist and that it is a fantasy name.)
Metallisches Rondo in A-Dorisch (Metallic Rondo in A-Dorian)
I call this style "Progressive Jazzrock". It's more Rock than Jazz but with all the ingredients that we love so much about Progressive Rock: odd meters, change of meters, complicated arrangements, many different parts and so on.
I composed and arranged all pieces and played all instruments except when indicated otherwise. The drum parts Peter didn't play were programmed by me. I played the guitars, the keyboards, the bass and the alto saxophone. All other wind instruments you can hear are samples I recorded with a keyboard. In particular cases I used samples that I bought (e.g. some bass parts in "Dr. Funkenstein"). No AI!
